The other day the lovely Ellis posed a question to Twitter talking of her dilemma in coming up with content for an About Me page and it got me thinking. One of the first things I look for on a blog is that blurb. Who are you? What do you look like? What's your address and postcode? Okay maybe not that far... but still. We Brits find it very difficult to talk ourselves up and especially in the vast blogging world (yes the mystical realm that is the Internet) this is no time to start playing small. 

Thinking About Setting up a Custom Domain?

So yesterday I took some big girl steps in the blogging world and set up a custom domain (previously effytalkslife.blogspot.com now effytalkslife.com).  It's something I've always thought about doing, but just been way too lazy to put into practice and all I can say is if you've been thinking about it - stop thinking and just commit! I realised the last post in my Social Media Series was ridiculously long so I've tried to condense this post a little and just highlight what I think are the key points!

Pinterest is like blogger heroin. We see a few pretty pictures and next thing you know we're remodelling our homes and have bloodshot eyes from staying up until the early hours of the morning groaning "Just one more pin".

Last Thursday my little old blog turned one, can you believe it?  It sounds so cheesy but I am still humbled by every page view, comment and follower. I'm every bit as excited as I was on day one - some days ten times more!

During the past year I've noticed that a considerable amount of my friends/colleagues who have taken the plunge or are considering starting their own blog. And also several who have abandoned the idea completely because they don't think they're 'good enough'. Personally, I don't think there is such thing as being 'good enough' to blog, like everything else in life you learn as you go along!
